Dr. Lewis Coleman’s book, 50 Years Lost in Medical Science, explores how medical advancements were sidetracked by the false belief that genes are the primary cause of disease. In reality, 95% of diseases are driven by an overloaded nervous system, not genetics. Stress enters the nervous system through receptors, triggering hormonal and capillary reactions that lead to cellular dysfunction.

This idea was first recognized by D.D. Palmer in 1895, who identified the nervous system as the master system and outlined three primary stressors: chemical, structural, and emotional. Chronic stress raises the body’s baseline stress levels, similar to a car engine idling too high, leading to health issues over time.

Our approach focuses on measuring and reducing this allostatic stress load through physical care, which is essential for restoring health. Supplements and medications alone cannot replace the need for direct nervous system interventions. By addressing the root cause—nervous system overload—we help patients achieve real improvements in their health.

Why Myeloperoxidase (MPO) Matters: The Key to Inflammation, Your Immune System, and Disease Prevention https://neurobiomedicinehealth.com/Neuro-Biomedicine/why-myeloperoxidase-mpo-matters-the-key-to-inflammation-your-immune-system-and-disease-prevention/ Tue, 21 Jan 2025 20:29:12 +0000 https://neurobiomedicinehealth.com/?p=45271

Hi, this is Doctor Farley. It’s a new year, and I’m back with more videos. I’ve been reviewing stacks of papers, and today I want to talk about myeloperoxidase (MPO), an enzyme I test for in blood. While it’s often labeled as an inflammatory marker, I explore why the body elevates it. The body doesn’t make mistakes, so understanding MPO’s purpose helps us see beyond simply calling it “bad.”

MPO is released by the endothelium, which forms 99% of the cardiovascular system, and by immune cells like neutrophils and monocytes. It’s antimicrobial, releasing oxidants to kill harmful organisms. However, sustained inflammation from this process can cause oxidative damage, leading to aging and diseases like heart disease, neurodegeneration, and cancer. To counteract this, we need enough antioxidants to balance oxidative stress.

Immune health is key—85% of the immune system is in the gut. Damage to the gut barrier impacts other barriers (lung, skin, brain, cardiovascular), leading to immune imbalance and disease. Factors like vitamin A, essential fatty acids, and avoiding gluten help maintain these barriers. Gluten damages the gut in most people, disrupting the immune system and driving inflammation, so eliminating it is wise.

In summary, MPO highlights how stress, immune dysregulation, and barrier damage drive disease. Addressing these root causes is crucial to improving health. Thanks, and have a great day!

Your Health Begins in the Cell: On the Mitochondria and Cell Defense Response https://neurobiomedicinehealth.com/Neuro-Biomedicine/your-health-begins-in-the-cell-on-the-mitochondria-and-cell-defense-response/ Tue, 17 Dec 2024 15:31:07 +0000 https://neurobiomedicinehealth.com/?p=45260

In this presentation, Dr. Farley discusses the critical role of mitochondria in cellular health, emphasizing their function in energy production and regulation of the cell defense response. He highlights the concept of the “Cell Danger Response,” introduced by Dr. Navarro, which explains how cells get stuck in a defensive mode, impairing their ability to heal and regenerate.

Dr. Farley stresses that the mitochondria and cell membrane—not the nucleus—control cell function. He attributes much of cellular and mitochondrial damage to prescription drugs, even when taken properly, labeling them the leading cause of dysautonomia—a nervous system imbalance. He also discusses how nutrient deficiencies and toxic foods further stress cellular health.

By connecting cell health to the nervous system through the concept of allostatic load, he explains how prolonged cellular stress disrupts the body’s balance, contributing to chronic conditions. Dr. Farley concludes that true health restoration comes from addressing these underlying cellular issues, not from relying on prescription drugs.

In this video, Dr. Farley emphasizes the importance of addressing balance, walking, and falls, particularly in seniors, as falls are one of the leading cause of death and disability in those over 65. He highlights that 40% of seniors unknowingly have balance issues, often linked to nervous system dysfunction and neurodegeneration, which can also indicate risks for conditions like Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s.

The nervous system relies on three inputs for balance: vision, the inner ear, and proprioceptive receptors, with most issues stemming from the latter. Reduced input from these receptors, often due to injury, stress, or other factors, can lead to balance problems and further neurodegeneration. Dr. Farley underscores the need for thorough assessment and step-by-step intervention to improve balance, reduce fall risk, and address underlying causes. Proactive management can significantly enhance quality of life and prevent future health complications.

Stem Cell Therapy https://neurobiomedicinehealth.com/Neuro-Biomedicine/stem-cell/ Tue, 26 Nov 2024 20:20:33 +0000 https://neurobiomedicinehealth.com/?p=45248

I want to discuss stem cell therapy, a topic I’m often asked about. There are two main types: embryonic stem cells, which raise ethical concerns, and induced pluripotent stem cells, extracted from sources like bone marrow or fat cells. However, these procedures can be painful, risky, and expensive. Importantly, no stem cell therapies for  neurodegenerative conditions are FDA-approved, and in my experience treating thousands of patients since 2008, I’ve seen minimal positive outcomes. Despite costs ranging from $5,000 to $500,000, the benefits are often temporary or nonexistent.

The key question isn’t about adding stem cells but understanding why our natural stem cells aren’t regenerating effectively. Since 95% of diseases are epigenetic, the underlying issues often include chronic injuries, chemical imbalances, medication side effects, diabetes, blood sugar irregularities, poor methylation, gastrointestinal problems, inflammatory conditions, and hormonal imbalances. Addressing these root causes can significantly improve a patient’s health.. Addressing these root causes can yield noticeable improvements within weeks, with long-term stabilization seen in 90% of my patients. Many also reduce medication use, improving their overall health.

Rather than starting with stem cell therapy, it’s better to focus on personalized care to optimize the body’s natural regenerative abilities. This approach leads to lasting improvements in function and quality of life. I hope this helps clarify the topic. Thank you!

The Battle of Biology: Genetics vs Epigenetics https://neurobiomedicinehealth.com/Neuro-Biomedicine/the-battle-of-biology-genetics-vs-epigenetics/ Tue, 19 Nov 2024 19:05:52 +0000 https://neurobiomedicinehealth.com/?p=45243

In this video, I dive into the question of whether the nucleus or the mitochondria truly run the show in our cells. At first glance, you might think it’s the nucleus, often called the “brain” of the cell. But when you dig deeper, the evidence tells a different story. I explain that in normal cells, the nucleus and mitochondria work together to keep everything functioning as it should. However, when we look at tumor cells, things start to unravel.

Here’s what I found fascinating: when researchers took a bad, tumor-cell nucleus and placed it in a normal cell, the result wasn’t tumor cells—it was normal cells. This completely flips the somatic mutation theory, which blames genetic mutations in the nucleus for cancer. On the other hand, when a healthy nucleus was put into a cell with damaged mitochondria and cytoplasm, tumor cells formed. What does this tell us? The mitochondria—not the nucleus—are really calling the shots.

The mitochondria are the powerhouses of the cell, generating up to 90% of the cell’s energy through the electron transport chain. When mitochondria get damaged, cells shift to less efficient energy production methods like fermentation and glycolysis, which can set the stage for cancer and other diseases. What damages mitochondria? It’s a long list, including oxidative stress, inflammation, poor diet, environmental toxins, and even overuse of prescription drugs. I see this regularly in bloodwork—imbalances in essential fatty acids, oxidative stress, and chronic inflammation wreaking havoc on the body.

One key takeaway is that genes are not the ultimate culprits behind disease. They’re more like workers responding to signals from their environment. Factors like methylation, diet, and stress affect which genes are turned on or off. And let’s stop labeling genes as “bad” or “dangerous.” Those labels scare people unnecessarily, and they don’t reflect how genes actually function.

Another aspect I touch on is how our thoughts and beliefs influence our health. When people buy into ideas like “this disease runs in my family” or “I’m destined to get this because of my genes,” it creates a self-fulfilling prophecy. I call it “black magic”—these limiting beliefs can harm you as much as physical stressors.

The good news? Mitochondria can be rehabilitated. By changing lifestyle factors—what you eat, how you manage stress, and the toxins you’re exposed to—you can support and even rebuild mitochondrial function. This doesn’t just apply to cancer but to all chronic diseases like neurodegenerative disorders, heart disease, and more.

In the intricate dance of life, energy is everything. And at the heart of every cell, the mitochondria are the silent providers, powering our bodies, our minds, and our health. But when these microscopic power plants begin to fail, the consequences ripple through every organ, every function, every system. Neurodegeneration, chronic pain, fatigue… the mitochondria’s failure to produce energy may be the common thread behind these debilitating conditions. As they falter, the body’s ability to regenerate and heal is compromised, leading to immune dysfunction, fatigue, and diseases that slowly erode the body’s systems.

Cells rely on glucose and fats to thrive, but fats provide cleaner energy. When mitochondria become dysfunctional, the clean flow of energy breaks down, triggering a cascade of problems—from cellular exhaustion to systemic failure. Even cancer is linked to this silent collapse. As Otto Warburg discovered, when mitochondria fail to fuel the cell, genetic mutations ignite a chain reaction—tumor suppressor genes switch off, and unchecked growth takes over. In areas like the muscles, heart, and brain, where energy demands are highest, mitochondrial dysfunction can be catastrophic.

Addressing this cellular energy crisis is key to reversing everything from fatigue to degenerative diseases. The fight for health begins at the very core—where energy meets life

In the following video, Dr. Farley explains the origin of terms like “pseudoscience,” “snake oil,” and “quacks,” asserting that they were created by a propaganda machine to discredit alternative healthcare providers. He argues that this system is designed to keep people dependent on drugs, surgeries, and the mainstream medical model, which profits from maintaining sickness rather than promoting health. He argues that some medical and insurance industries benefit from prolonging illness.

He explains how society is finally beginning to recognize this manipulation, especially after the recent pandemic. Dr. Farley also references a 1987 court ruling in which the American Medical Association was found guilty of conspiring to destroy chiropractic practices. He believes that true health comes from relying on the power of the mind and body, not drugs and surgeries, which only manage symptoms and can harm long-term health.

Dopamine plays a crucial role in various physiological processes, especially in the context of movement disorders like Parkinson’s disease and Parkinsonian Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). Understanding dopamine’s role within the broader category of catecholamines is essential for comprehending its impact on the body. Catecholamines are a group of chemicals that include dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine, all of which are derived from the amino acid tyrosine. Tyrosine serves as a precursor not only for catecholamines but also for thyroid hormones, establishing a connection between thyroid function and dopamine production.

In an ideal scenario, the body would evenly distribute tyrosine for both thyroid hormone production and dopamine synthesis. However, under conditions of high stress, the body prioritizes survival by diverting more tyrosine toward producing norepinephrine and epinephrine, the neurotransmitters involved in the stress response of the sympathetic nervous system. This shift can reduce the availability of tyrosine for dopamine production, potentially leading to movement disorders. The conventional understanding is that damage to the substantia nigra in the brain results in reduced dopamine production, leading to Parkinson’s and similar conditions. Consequently, patients are often treated with L-dopa to increase dopamine levels.

However, another factor could be the body’s response to stress, which might be driving the conversion of L-dopa directly to norepinephrine and epinephrine, bypassing dopamine production. This response is not an error but rather the body’s way of ensuring survival during high stress. By reducing stress and the body’s allostatic load, it may be possible to allow more tyrosine to contribute to dopamine production, potentially alleviating symptoms of movement disorders. Therefore, managing stress is not only crucial for overall health but also for improving outcomes in patients with movement disorders.

The prevalence of heart disease and stroke remains a significant issue, with over 600,000 people in the U.S. dying from heart disease annually, and the numbers are rising. A recent study by the American Heart Association revealed that more than half of U.S. adults are unaware that heart disease is the leading cause of death, despite holding this position for nearly a century.

The economic burden is staggering, with the cost of heart disease projected to surpass $1 trillion by 2050, and $92 billion expected to be spent on medications alone by 2032. Despite widespread use of cholesterol and blood pressure medications, these treatments have not effectively curbed the rise in cardiovascular disease. At all.

Additionally, the current approach of focusing solely on lowering cholesterol and blood pressure, fails to address other significant root causes, which include oxidative stress, sustained inflammation, hormonal imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, biological stress, and glycocalyx damage. Addressing these underlying issues through a functional approach is essential for improving heart health and reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease. We do this here, at The Neuro Biomedicine Health System.
